Pharmacist in Training

Image
After being here for three weeks, a medical team led by Dr. Cox arrived. Two days were spent in the clinic next to the orphanage and then two days out in villages doing mobile clinics. I didn’t work any days in the nearby clinic, but I did help out in the pharmacy with Eddie, Vicki, Veronica, Warren, and McKenzie when the team went out to the villages. It was fun to hang out with someone close to my age (McKenzie) for a change. On May 20 th we went out to a place where a medical team had never gone. Over the course of eight-ish hours we saw close to 150 people! The gratitude was evident when John (not Jon) told the remaining people who hadn’t been seen that no one else could be seen, and the people applauded! Chew on that. My favorite day was probably May 21 st (wonder what that means?), because I could do more after having a warm-up day (the 20 th )…and it was my birthday. My favorite “case” was probably the kid who had a cockroach in his ear. How do you get a cockroach stuck...

"There's No Place Like Home"

From May 9-16 I had the pleasure of seeing our friends from our home church, Sovereign Grace, and my grandparents. My grandpa, who as you may know, is a doctor so he worked in the clinic that is just outside of the orphanage grounds along with my grandma. Rich, Chris, Don and Mr. Newsome went out to some of the schools where they told a bible story to the children.              It was like a breath of fresh air, being able to spend time with “family” (literally and figuratively). I’ve enjoyed meeting a bunch of new people and experiencing different cultures, but “there’s no place like home”. a pastoral meeting of pastors Crafts with the kids Projects around the house There once was a snake..
