Pharmacist in Training

After being here for three weeks, a medical team led by Dr. Cox arrived. Two days were spent in the clinic next to the orphanage and then two days out in villages doing mobile clinics. I didn’t work any days in the nearby clinic, but I did help out in the pharmacy with Eddie, Vicki, Veronica, Warren, and McKenzie when the team went out to the villages. It was fun to hang out with someone close to my age (McKenzie) for a change.
On May 20th we went out to a place where a medical team had never gone. Over the course of eight-ish hours we saw close to 150 people! The gratitude was evident when John (not Jon) told the remaining people who hadn’t been seen that no one else could be seen, and the people applauded! Chew on that.
My favorite day was probably May 21st (wonder what that means?), because I could do more after having a warm-up day (the 20th)…and it was my birthday. My favorite “case” was probably the kid who had a cockroach in his ear. How do you get a cockroach stuck in your ear?!?
