Shingai Primary School

On February 27, 2015 I went to Shingai Primary School (in uniform) for sports day. Four different primary schools (including Shingai) gathered together at the best track, to compete in track, relay, and the high jump (slightly different than ours). It only included grades 5-7 so I missed one of the village kids in 4 th grade do the high jump. L Since then I have gone two full days (leave at 6am, home at 5pm) and two half days (Fridays go 6-2ish) I have enjoyed my classmates, but sometimes the day seems to run on since English is their second language and my second nature so… The first term (from January to end of March) ends on the last day of March. In my class there are 45 students (including me) and one teacher! Every morning we pull out our morning work notebooks and do our morning work out of the English book. Happy Easter Everyone! 💒

On Saturday we followed our Easter tradition and colored eggs with the Peters. The result was an egg rainbow and a new stain on my shorts. Oh well, they tasted and looked great! ~ Easter Sunday ~ Grande Chorale de Christ Pour Tous performing this morning Lunch downtown at Cafe Kozy! After we arrived, a French family and some of their friends and another group of French speaking people came. It almost felt like we were in a cafe in France! That was before a group of elderly Americans showed up. The view from inside of the cafe displays the old coffee warehouses from the 1700s! We wish you a Happy Easter from our Haiti home to yours. A Warm Welcome Back! :)

Yay! We made it safely back to Jacmel, Haiti with all of our bags. A house has been rented for us not too far from the orphanage, which we have been cleaning and working on with the help of friends. It's been great to be able to come back to such familiar faces. My parents are overseeing the schools and the clinic that are funded by Children's Hope.  The clinic is right outside of the orphanage compound. I was so excited when I saw the finished lab, a new registration office and emergency room. I am doing school with the Peters' (orphanage directors) kids in an independent work style starting at eight and ending anywhere from noon to three. After school, who knows what I'll be doing!
