“Staring at the Sun”

Before I came, my dad told me that we would be in Zimbabwe in the summer.  It would also be the rainy season, so I thought “Oh, if it is going to be raining a lot then maybe the heat of the summer won’t be so bad.” That would be true if there was rain! Since we’ve been here it has rained one full day and drizzled lightly twice. WE NEED RAIN!!!
Despite the heat, every weekday morning at six a.m. most of the village children walk to school, and every weekday afternoon at four-ish they walk back. One day I had the privilege of getting up at five a.m. to go to school with them, only to find out that the paper work for me to go to school wasn’t finished.   Unfortunately, that meant I had to go all the way back home. I got to school at 6:30 (or half-six as Zimbabweans say) and was driven back around 7:15. I have yet to return. We are hoping that we can fulfill a list of documentation that was given to us on Tuesday.
On Wednesday we went with Cephas and Judith on yet another “adventure unlimited”. My favorite part was when I got to sit in the truck bed for the last 30 minutes of the ride. That was after everyone had gotten out of the truck to do a push start. I did also enjoy hearing the school children sing and watching the beautiful scenery.
